#24

The more admirable person out of Timothy Treadwell and Aaron Ralston is Aaron Ralston because he had to cut his own arm off to live when all he wanted to do was go canoneering and to not die doing it where as Timothy died playing around with bears and showing people that these animals aren't meant to be treated as pets. Aaron was a bigger admirable person and a lot stronger than most people in this day and age.

#20 technolgy and personal lives

What do you think will be the impact of technology on peoples' lives as we progress? will this be a good thing overall? explain
The impact of technology on peoples lives will result in us being super lazy and making it so we lose the ability to communicate with other humans. It will eventually eat away our social lives and make it so we are hermits in our homes.

#19

1. How has (and will)  technology changed the taxi, travel, lodging, banking and manufacturing industries in the past decade or so?
Technology has changed the taxi, travel, lodging, banking and manufacturing industries by allowing it to be more effective and fast and allowing for easier access to vacations and making it easier to book ahead of time. Technology is making it cheaper.

 2. Uber? good idea or bad idea . explain
I think Uber is a bad idea because you don't know what the person is capable of doing to you when you get in there car, and what if you get in an accident and you are seriously injured or dead. Other than that its just down right creepy.

#18 Canadas Best Jobs 2015

The job that is most appealing is the human and community resource manager because this category, defined by Employment and Social Development Canada is covering health, education, social and community services, can include high-level leadership in fields from parks and rec to employment support to public health. The salary has increased by 37% in six years. The workforce has become very competitive in this field having only 6,400 jobs in this field of work.

#17 Keystone Pipeline

The Keystone XL Pipeline Project is a proposed 1,179-mile (1,897 km), 36-inch-diameter crude oil pipeline, beginning in Hardisty, Alta., and extending south to Steele City, Neb. The keystone pipeline is controversial because it will be running through farm land and there will always be the possibility of an oil spill.  It is also controversial to The Sand Hills region of Nebraska which is an area of sand dunes and a National Natural Landmark.  Another complaint of environmentalists, which caught the President's attention, is possible contamination of the Ogallala Aquifer. This is a wetland ecosystem that spans eight states, including Nebraska. It also lies on XL's proposed route. The aquifer is a fresh water reserve that supplies drinking water to 2 million citizens in the surrounding area. In my opinion I do think it should be built to bring my revenue into Canada and provide jobs for those who are still unemployed after the 2008 recession this is exactly what we need to boost our economy and allow for us to be where we were being 2008.

#16 the world of work

  1. In my opinion a good job has an environment worth coming to and that you enjoy what you do with the help of the fellow employees and employer looking out for you. A good job constitutes enjoying waking up in the morning to head of to work and knowing that your not just going to make money.
  2. In ten years I hope I see myself in a dental office with a nice 9-5 job assisting the dentist and still having time to go home to my husband and kids to have the social interaction everyone needs through out life.
  3. It seems like a good choice for me because I know how much family means and how much looking after them financially and emotionally means.

#15 Serial Wrap Up

I think that a retrial should happen next in the trial because he deserves for the evidence that wasn't looked at to be revaluated and should give him the opportunity to live his life if he really didn't do the crime. He really didn't get given the benefit of the doubt when the trial was going on but when they finally give him the chance they might see that race had something to do with the sentence.

#14 Apple Watch

The apple watch is something that maybe in the future I would be interested in buying but I don't do well with anything to do with technology that glitches or something that's hard to understand to set up. The apple watch would be something I would only get if it got rid of all the issues and I knew it was worth spending my money on.

#13: Guilty or Not Guilty

I think that Sarah Koenig's method of slowly introducing new information and sharing it in a certain way is fair because it shows you the multiple evidence that is being found through out the case and showing you the many sides of the people that are involved and what investigators would look at in this situation.

#12 Great Depression

Four facts on the depression:
  1. The deepest and longest-lasting economic downturn in the history of the Western industrialized world
  2.  The Great Depression began soon after the stock market crash of October 1929
  3. By 1933, when the Great Depression reached its nadir, some 13 to 15 million Americans were unemployed and nearly half of the country’s banks had failed.
  4. Some economies started to recover by the mid-1930s. In many countries, the negative effects of the Great Depression lasted until the beginning of World War II.
Three facts about the dust bowl:
  1. The Dust Bowl, also known as the Dirty Thirties, was a period of severe dust storms that greatly damaged the ecology and agriculture of the US and Canadian prairies during the 1930s.
  2. Severe drought and a failure to apply dry land farming methods to prevent wind erosion (the Aeolian processes) caused the phenomenon.
  3. The worst man-made ecological disaster in American history.
Two facts about Okie:
  1. An Okie is a resident or native of Oklahoma.
  2. Refer to very poor migrants from Oklahoma.
One fact about John Steinbeck:
  1.  He worked his way through college at Stanford University but never graduated.

#11 R Novel

I do think that the novel "Cut" should stay an "R" novel for college English and allow people to learn more about the difficulties behind depression and so you the side that you never get to see. It allows people to expand there learning with depression and show you that its not just a weakness but an actual illness.

#8 First Half of Cut

One of the most memorable parts of the first part of the book was when Calli finally starts to talk and explain what makes her feel the way she does. This occurred when she cut herself while she was suppose to be sleeping but it kept bleeding and she didn't know how to stop it so she finally asked the nurse on duty to help her and that's when she felt like people were there to help her and she could open up. I choose it because it shows how when you finally have someone show that they care, then finally they want to open up and it shows that support is the key to success in healing.

#7 Small Group Novel

The book cut is an awesome way to show you the side of mental illness and the healing process of these illnesses. It shows you that when your going through these things alone its not only you that is feeling this way.  This book shows you that every little thing that you have going on in your life, it feels like those things are your fault and you have the whole weight of the world on your shoulders. It shows  you that no matter how simple it is for some people to talk about there illness its not as easy for you or other people. It shows you the nitty gritty side of the illness and how much it takes to feel better.

#6 Vaccination

My thoughts on the vaccinations and attendance is that students should not be aloud in the school without them because it could cause the other students to get an illness that could cause them to become so ill that it could result in the death of another student. It should be mandatory to be able to attend schools  anymore to allow the illness to remain dormant and not allow them to flare up and cause more illness to morph into different strands of it.

#5 Mental Health

I think having mental health programs within schools is a great idea. It allows students at a young age to realize that mental illness isn't a terrible thing and it should be talked about and you should be able to go to anyone and receive help. You shouldn't be looked at like you have Ebola. I cant wait to see how the world changes from introducing this curriculum into schools.

#4 "how significant of a problem do you think this is?" samsung

"how significant of a problem do you think this is?"
I think this is a serious problem and it its going further into peoples privacy than a TV should ever go, A TV is never meant for giving feedback or sending back data to the consumer. A TV is meant for the entertainment purpose. This bothers me that companies now feel the right to snoop even further into our privacy when all were doing is trying to get basic entertainment without leaving the comfort of our homes.

#3 Ten Facts on Mental Health

  1. Toronto saw a 200 per cent increase in demand from students in crisis situations: “homeless, suicidal, really sick,"
  2. Fully a quarter of university-age Canadians will experience a mental health problem, most often stress, anxiety or depression.
  3. About 51 per cent reported that, within the past 12 months, they’d “felt things were hopeless.”
  4. A shocking seven per cent admitted they’d “seriously considered suicide,” and about one per cent had attempted it.
  5. In the 14 months that followed, five more Queen’s students (all male) died suddenly, three by suicide.
  6.  Queens university has grappled with the label of “suicide school,”
  7.  People in their late teens and early twenties are at the highest risk for mental illness; in these years, first episodes of psychiatric disorders like major depression are most likely to appear.
  8.  Young adults are somehow less equipped to cope.
  9. In a 2011 study of eight U.S. universities, Whitlock, who is director of the Cornell Research Program on Self-Injurious Behaviors, found that 15 per cent of students had cut, burned or otherwise injured themselves.
  10. Amid this bustle, construction workers at Cornell University began installing steel mesh nets under seven bridges around campus.

#2 Book Choice

The book I choose was Cut because I wanted to read about how it feels to really be in deep with depression and that side of self harm. It was nice to pick something that I could relate too and know that when I had issues everything I was feeling was normal... This book was so good that I have already finished it.

#1 Goal REDONE

One goal I have for this 4C English class is to pass with a 70 or higher. I would like this mark to be higher so it looks better on my transcript for post secondary. This mark will help me in my next step in life and become a nurse which has always been a life goal of mine and I think that English may be one of my weakest subjects but I would really like to conquer that and make it one of my best with the hopes that it helps me out in the future especially in my post secondary.
